Twycross has a new born Kirk's dik dik, a first for the zoo.

Popped in today and see the only new thing is a playpark going up where the Langur House used to be.

Looks like the young Amur Leopards have been separated from the parents, so preparing to move on I guess.
Saw all four Snow Leopards out together for the first time today.

According to the following link the elephants arrival at Blackpool will be within days/weeks as they are hoping to have the house open for Easter once the Twycross elephants have settled in.

That's the whole reason they are going to Blackpool. The house is designed with Bull quarters. But there has been talk of a bull not arriving for some time yet, though I think it will depend largely on when whichever one is planned for them needs to move from its current home. (Aung Bo?) One Twycross elephant(Tara) has already arrived at Blackpool(Tuesday).
 
Twycross Zoo FB page includes a very short(12 sec) video clip of newly arrived Elephant Tara meeting Blackpool's single female Kate through the barrier. Seemed a pretty low key event. They also say the others are not quite ready to go yet...
 
I'm after some info on the Chapmans Zebra herd if possible please. Does anyone know what the group composition is?

If you follow the link, the terms and conditions are there (they are not long):

"This offer is available during February Half Term from 10th-25th February 2018 only and must be redeemed on the gate, on the day of your visit. All children aged 2-16 years will gain entry for £5 each and all adults will gain entry for £10 each. Under 2s are free. An adult is any persons aged over 16 years. It would appear it's open to all this time, but I thought that last time and still had to pay full rate, as they said on the gate the reduction was for families only and given a Zoo is a charity, I didn't want to cause an argument.
 
Pertinax: My guess is that it might have been half of Dublin's herd. But the Twycross females are better suited as companions for Kate - the females from Dublin are closely related and bonded and therefore very unlikey to accept unrelated Kate. Twycross females Minbu, Noor Jahan and Tara are unrelated and it is more likely that one of them will bond with Kate. The many bull calves from Dublin would have been likely a problem for an elderly female like Kate, too.

I e-mailed Twycross to check and it is not just for families, but anyone visiting the zoo. This is what they said:

"The price to visit the Zoo between the 10th-25th February 2018 is £10 per Adult and £5 per child. It is not just for Families this is just the set promotion for this offer.

So to confirm if you were to come on your own it would cost you £10."

(Actually if I went it wouldn't cost me £10 as I am a member, hehe!)
