I received a christmas card today from Twycross, on the front is a picture of a white stork in the snow.
Inside their is a mini annual report including the arrival of lemurs, degus, twin meerkats and two female lions, if this is by birth or arrival it doesn't say.
Also mentioned is the death of Joe, and looking forward to 2009 the anticipated opening of the elephant walkway and the new lion and dhole exhibit due for completion in 2010, and the opening of a "specialist" childrens zoo around easter 2009, with the visitor welcome centre opening in 2010.
There were 2 female Asiatic lions in the enclosure in October , presumably arrivals .
can anybody give me any recent updates or latest news please.![]()
In answer to your questiopn about the Tapirs i believe they are the ones from Southport,as for the Colobus think you are wrong about them coming to Twycross and as for the Gibbons no they are still in South Wales funny it taken them this long to remember where they are or is just that the Gibbon House now has 2 or 3 empty enclosure now!!!!!!Are the 2 off show Brazilian Tapirs the pair that went to Twycross when Southport Zoo closed down??
I also noticed a trio of Black & White Colobus that looked very much like the Southport Monkeys that were suposed to have gone to Trotters World in the Lake District.
Also, did Twycross ever get the Lar Gibbons back from the Welsh Primate Sanctuary that took them on when Southport Zoo Closed?? The 2 male gibbons were both on loan from Twycross originally.
