UK Safari Park 1968-1970 ?? Any idea which ?

My first guess would be Windsor, I can't think of any other UK safari parks that had Asian elephants except Woburn (which this could also be) and Longleat (which as far as I know has only ever had the one they have now which is far too recent). I haven't been to any of these so other ZooChatters will probably have to make it out from the geography.

It looks like Windsor to me too, circa 1970. They had 4 young Asian elephants then (plus "Birma" an adult animal that was the only one of the ex-circus elephants that remained in the U.K. when the Billy Smarts Circus ended). In the early years there was no accommodation for elephants in the Park so the animals were walked into the Park daily from the nearby former circus winter quarters at Winkfield.

Didn't Paignton receive a African and an Asian elephant from longleat? Dutchess and Gay?

Looks like Windsor to me too. Elephant data base confirms Duchess and Gay did go to Paignton from Longleat, and Thi late of Chester was also at Longleat.

Regardless of where it is, what is the guy with the shopping bag doing on the edge of the pond?!!!

MANY THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP IN IDENTIFIYING THE PARK, I WAS GIVEN SOME SLIDES WITHOUT DATA,ALL INTERESTING HISTORICALLY BUT SOMETIMES WITHOUT INTIMATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPOGRAPHY MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO PLACE THEM TO A SPECIFIC ZOO
