Visayan Warty Pigs In North American Zoos

This species was once unknown in North American zoos, but there are now 10 zoos with Visayan warty pigs on the continent. All 10 zoos are in the United States, and a few years ago there were only a couple with the species. The San Diego Zoo has around 30 of the pigs!

List of zoos:

San Diego, Los Angeles, Oregon, Boise, Minnesota, Brevard, Phoenix, Reid Park, Capron Park and St. Louis.

Yup, that's all 10 of 'em. Boise just received their pigs last week. 3 yearling males from San Diego, and there will be a 4th one on the way from the Oregon Zoo. They are awesome animals. Lots of fun to watch as they run around their exhibit at full bore!

Miami Zoo will get them also, in the exhibit, which is now used for black duikers. The duikers will move to the okapis.
