News from todays visit:
  • One pair of crested wood partridges has eggs.
  • One pair of black-necked stilts has babies. The other appears to have eggs.
  • The crowned lapwing and masked lapwing were both acting very defensive towards visitors. The crowned lapwing even pretended to be injured briefly. Not sure why.
  • The red-legged honeycreepers seems to be nesting, they were very protective of their nest box.
  • The dusky lories also appear to be nesting, one was screeching at anybody who walked in the building. I didn’t see the other until it briefly poked its head out of the nest box.
  • In the aviary at the end of the building, the yellow cardinals have been put in a small cage.
  • One of the female king quails appeared to be sitting on a nest.
  • One pair of splendid grass parakeets might be nesting.
