Volunteering at Qld Zoo

Hi all,

With the TAFE course I'm doing, I must do 100hrs voluntary work in a zoo sometime in the next 12 month period, and complete a list of practical work.

If you had to choose your top 3 zoo's in Qld which would you choose?

I've already volunteered for 10 months at Australia Zoo (although it was back in 05/06), so not sure I want to go back there. I think I'd rather check out a different institution.

I was thinking of a toss up between Darling Downs Zoo (which I've driven past, but didn't have time to actually stop & visit :( ) and Rockhampton Zoo. Not sure who to choose as my #3 choice?

I live in Victoria, so will have to fly/drive/accom wherever I go.

Why do you have to do it in QLD? sounds like an expensive choice judging from your location.

That's one reason why our vollie program is well and truly full up.

One of our keepers is doing this course - it certainly is a demanding one. Good luck with it.

Yeah - It's a bit tough, but the teacher is great. :)

I have already done the Veterinary components of it, as I've also worked as a Vet Nurse in the past.

I'm not sure if they're offering it anymore though. I don't see it on their website starting this semester?

I bet you get a lot of the Gatton Ag & Vet Students at your Zoo also?
