I would like to know if any members have ever visited Waddesdon Manor Aviary in Aylesbury at Waddesdon Hall as I have noticed that the collection looks rather interesting as they have a few birds I have yet to see in the UK and according to Zootierliste they also have some Grosbeak Starlings.

I would also like to know if the Zootierliste is up to date and if not, which species are no longer at the collection and which of any have been added to the collection.

I'm hoping to make this part of my March Birding captive collection month along with Birdworld (Farnham), Birdland park & gardens, Cotswold falconry centre, Slimbridge WWT, Cotswold wildlife park, London Zoo & Chester zoo as there will be a slow month for birding.

It’s not a bad collection, not very large on footprint though. When we visited, they were doing talks and feeds. Big emphasis placed on their Bali mynah breeding programs too.

I'm afraid they don't have many of these, most of them are apparently on a different site. The site consists of 8 aviaries, 2 big one on each end and 6 smaller ones with one or two less species in there. The only rarity I saw was the painted buntings and robin chats, which were life ticks for me. It would be really nice if they had all these rarities on show.

Everything I remember being present were the following:
Bali mynah
Painted bunting
Brahminy starling
Fischer's turaco
Cape robin chat
Peking robin
Cinnamon ground dove
Emerald green dove
Crested wood partridge
Collared partridge
Luzon bleeding heart
Soccoro dove
Chestnut backed ground thrush
And a couple of laughingthrushes.

Many thanks folks I think I will still make a visit in March and I will add a full list of species on here again many thanks all for the info.

Big emphasis placed on their Bali mynah breeding programs too.
Remember that the Bali mynah is Leucospar rothschildi, aka Rothschild's mynhah/grackle, and that Waddesdon Manor was the country house of the English branch of the Rothschild family.
