I've been considering paying a visit to Waddesdon for quite a long time now, but I never seem to find the time to go.

Has anyone ever been?

Yes I have, about thirty years ago! I can only remember a famous 'Victorian' style aviary though not what birds were in it, and a small herd of Sika Deer. Interesting but it was (then) worth only about a 30 minute visit...

Went a couple of years ago superb old Victorian Complex of Aviarys restored superbly to a very high standard, they would not look out of place in any good zoo in the U.K,also they had some nice species of birds in them on my visit the species that stood out was the Go-away Birds sorry cannot rember which species.

Could they have been the white-bellied go-away birds? I think they acheived a UK first breeding a few years back.

I seem to remember they have had another first(or meritorious) breeding award a long while ago but cannot remembr what species it was for.

They've also had first UK breedings of

1988 Mitred Conure
1974 Indian Treepie
2006 Spotted-flanked Barbet
2005 Sumatran Laughing Thrush

Have they still got the Spotted-flanked Barbets?Because i don`t rember seeing them and i went in 2007.

ISIS lists 2.2.3 barbets with 4 bred in 2008, Paignton also shown as 0.1

They don't have the go-away birds anymore. If ISIS is to be believed.
