Sea World is going to display a new animal.

Welcome to Facebook

"Is this a gorgeous animal or what!! Say hello to one of our newest animal ambassadors – a water monitor.” He is 4 feet long and tips the scales at nearly 20 pounds. They can grow up to 10 feet and weigh more than 50 pounds. Native of southern Asia, these giants of the lizard world eat anything from insects to birds to even small mammals. Other than snakes, water monitors are the only reptiles to possess a unique “tongue” characteristic. Does any know what that characteristic is? This water monitor, as well as other fascinating animals, will be on display soon. We’ll let you know when and where."

I'm looking forward to seeing the water monitor!!

Sea World has a new attraction that has been open for two weeks called animal connections and it is in the front half of the old stables. Inside this new exhibit is the water monitor, two capys, a porcupine, several spoonbills, a southern ground-hornbill, and a sloth. They are adding a bee exhibit and another poison dart frog exhibit. I have been there three times and they always have an animal out for people to touch, the last one was a legless lizard. They said they hope to bring out the sloth and the capys as they get more comfortable in there new settings. I will take photos next time I'm there and post them.

BTW they said they are hoping to open up the back part of the stables and get some bigger animals to be kept in the corrals.
