For those who haven't read it, the 2016 edition of the WAZA Magazine (vol. 17) can be viewed online:

As the first to focus on exhibit design, this edition includes articles about different "activity-based" approaches, putting animal care on-display, and ZooLex. There are also features on London's Land of Lions and Woodland Park's Banyan Wilds, giving the designer's perspective on two much-maligned exhibits. Some articles aren't especially incisive or well written, but it's worth a look.
