When did Walsrode keep 1,000 species of birds at once? I think it was the '60s or '70s but can someone confirm this?
In 1986 - the year I started to work at Walsrode we officialy had 932 species 
.

Your best bet is using the advanced search engine of www.Zootierliste.de, I do not think anybody could give you a better overview, even though there will be some errors...
I would like to know some more recent data for many species.
For example Zootierliste lists ruffs with a population of almost 30
individuals in 2008, but in 8 years the population could have easily been
reduced to a single individual or pair.
Let me rephrase my question to be more specific:
which species of waders are kept in Large flocks or colonies at Walsrode?

Is there was any shoebill chick hatching in Walsrode or anywhere in Europe. I now for captive hatching of shoebill in Tampa's Lowry Park zoo, and in zoo in South Africa?
What happened with shoebills in Budapest zoo in Hungary? Are they long living in Europe?

And the chick in Pairi Daiza grow up? Is it live nowadays?

2 chicks grew up in Pairi Daiza in 2008, they then moved to Zurich and they returned to Pairi Daiza again in 2015. Pairi Daiza also got the shoebills from Wuppertal so they now should have 5 or 6 shoebills there, with which they want to establish new possible breeding pairs... Walsrode also has 1.1 and Prague should have 2.2 and that's it for Europe.
Pairi Daiza has 2.3 Shoebills.

According to ZTL new species include the Gilded Barbet (Capito auratus) and Greater Bird-of-paradise (Paradisaea apoda apoda).
Would be curious to know what else is new?

Visited the park on the 8th of July together with some other zoo friends...
My first visit since 1991 (!!!)
This seasons News included Greater bird-of-paradise, a nocturnal house for Kiwis and a Group of Young White american pelicans (6 individuals).

Either you mean the 8th of April or you are from the future
Query: is the Greater BoP on-display, and if so has it replaced one of the other species which used to be on-display (King, Raggi, Twelve-Wired)?
Do you know which hummingbird species?
The video seems to show Emerald Amazilias, however I wonder if any of the other species have bred.
Where in the zoo is the nocturnal house located? Is it just Kiwis, or are there other nocturnal birds?
