Just been today. If you are there for the opening I would really recommend not driving though the park first thing.
If you park up and walk though you get that area pretty much to yourself. I finally got a chance to just stop and enjoy the reptile house, without being pushed along by crowds.
The lemur walk is still very impressive, lots of mature oaks and sweet chestnut trees and it doesn't feel half-arsed like a lot of lemur walks do. I don't think they are getting the best out of it though. They have a nice healthy group of Ring-tailed lemur including four new babies, but they only have three White-fronted brown lemurs, including one 20+ year old male and a single Red-bellied lemur.
Assuming they couldn't escape, it would be spectacular with sifaka.
Little Sutton looked well and Five and Latabe were being very attentive. I don't know what the situation with the giraffes is supposed to be, but I saw no evidence of their being two herds, it looked all mixed.
Also, they had Grévy's zebra and Burchell's zebra mixed together in the same paddock. The two herds did not interact, but that does seem strange.
Finally, do Gemsbok not mix well with other animals? They are kept in a separate little paddock for some reason.
Oh! And I got to touch a skunk at one of the animal demos, which was great. The sea lion show is just that, a show, no education attempted, feeble tie-ins to the Commonwealth Games were. And I finally got a tiger to chuff at me.
