I have just got back from my trip to weymouth, over all it is a good collection. here is a little tour of the park:
1. Amazone, a simple mangrove themed exhibit home to catfish, piranhas and tetra, the tanks are well themed but information on the amazon is lacking.
2. Tropical shark nursery - Home to zebra and blacktip reef sharks and also a very elusive kemp's ridley turtle due to be released into the wild this summer, there wasnt alot of info on her.
3. Bay of rays - A simple exhibit with rays, mackrel and lobsters, the exhibit has a nice beach feel to it
4. Seahorses - My favourite exhibit, the exhibit has one main enclosure home to several pairs and then smaller tanks that make up a "research lab" On the wall there is a list of all the breeding programmes running, i was quite impressed!
5. Penguin Sanctuary, home to 13 humbolt penguins set in a natural exhibit the area is quite small but the penguins seem pretty happy in there.
6. National turtle sanctuary - Not a great exhibit, the tanks were small and mostly filled with ex pets like sliders and snake neck turtles, it would be nice for some more rare species to put in.
7. Turtle Tunnel - home to two shark species and three green turtles (all due for release) and several tropical fish species, the tunnel is very short which is a shame.
8. Seal sanctuary - Home to 4 grey seals, the exhibit is medium size and has underwater viewing as well as off show areas for privacy.
9. Otter sanctuary - home to dad and son asian short clawed otters, a quite natural exhibit with indoor and outdoor pools and a large grass area.
10. Venom - A small exhibit themed around venomous species including sea snakes, lion fish and posion arrow frogs, i felt the exhibit could have been alot more bigger and better in quality.
