What birds that you really want to see but you’ve never seen them before

For me, the birds that I really want to see are:

Ocellated turkey - I felt interested with the turkeys because on my first and last visit of the Bronx Zoo in March-April 2024, the second floor of World of Birds is temporarily closed on my visit. So I really wanted to see that species of turkey.

Gang-gang cockatoo - I also felt interested with the cockatoos because on my first and last visit of the Taronga Zoo, we didn’t go to the Blue Mountains Bushwalk exhibit. And I really want to see them.

Papuan eagle - This species were previously kept in my local zoos long before I got full interested in zoology. I never got a chance to see them in captivity.

Twelve-wired bird-of-paradise - Another species that I never got a chance to see in captivity so far.

Ferruginous partridge - I heard from a friend that this species are kept in the Bird Park of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, which is located in Jakarta. I never managed to saw them during my previous visits.

Spectacled owl - While atleast one bird park in Indonesia maintain this species, the park located quite far from where I live and is located in a city with limited public transportation. Planning to go the that park and see that species would take a while.

Blue-eared kingfisher - Several wild birds roam a local zoo in Jakarta, I never got any luck seeing that species.

Note that I would not be able to see all of these in a zoo setting.

Shoebill due to its unique appearance and iconic status.

James’s and Andean flamingos so that I can say I’ve seen every living flamingo species in the flesh.

Galapagos penguin, as it’s (unsurprisingly) the only “banded penguin” I haven’t seen IRL.

Kakapo since it’s a very unique parrot and bird in general.

Jabiru for its striking coloration and being the tallest stork in the Americas.

Blue-footed booby because it’s an iconic bird I’ve known about since I was a little kid, yet have yet to see IRL (there don’t seem to be many, if any, in human care?).

The list goes on…
