I just want to know what would you say if someone asks you these questions about the Prgue zoo::confused:
1. Which exhibit/pavilion do you like the most?
2. Which of the Pragues animals is your favourite (as it is attractive to you because it is cute and nice)?
3. Which endangered, rare or not common animal in zoos is the star for you in Prague zoo.

My answers would be:
1. Exhibits for mountain goats and sheep, the nightzone in Indonezian jungle, small houses for southamerican mammals and big terrarium in Carnivore house
2. Moose, aardvark, Stellers Eagle
3. Gharrial and Brown Hyena

One more question. What is the plan with shoebills in Prague zoo? I think they have got one pair, but they are under the scene.:( Is any plan to display them? This would be a real star for me.

1. favourite exhibits: new home for fur seals, pavilion for gharials, ,,water world", which provides great natural conditions for many animals.. and I also like exhibit for wolves and Indonesian jungle.

I do NOT like exhibit for fennec fox, it is too small.

2. I like wolves, maned wolves, gharials, big cats fur seals, but my the most favourite animal is definitely a fennec fox. I love this small foxie :aww:

3. gharial, of course. I am very proud that Czech ZOO in Prague is the only European facility, which keeps this extremelly endangered species!
-----------------------------------------------------------

What do I miss in ZOO Prague? Well, I miss more species of foxes - some Cape or Swift fox would be nice :D and I think this ZOO is rich and good enough to keep also dolphins :D

and I THINK that ZOO plans to show this species of bird, but their home has not been finished yet... And ZOO keeps 5 shoebills ;)

There are 2 other collections in Europe that keep gharial

I do hope they are successful with their shoebill, and maybe follow an example led by Parc Paradisio

1. favourite exhibits: antelope meadow (beisa...), Dalmatian pelican pond and iguana atrium in carnivore house
2. favourite animals: all 3 flamingo species, giant tortoises and clouded leopard

RE shoebill: there are only 4 birds alive, one female died last year. They plan to exhibit 1 pair to the public, but plans for an exhibit changed more than once. I followed the construction of a shoebill/flamingo house just to see a lemur group to live inside now. The next plan was to reconstruct the waterfowl wintering house aviaries and to place shoebills into one of them. Last time I´ve read theyĺl build a separate aviary somewhere near cranes, but I wouldn´t bet on it.

And where the shoebills come from? Are they from nature (Uganda, Tanzania or which state?) or from other zoo?

The former bird curator picked them up in Tanzania in 2004, they are all wild caught.

Favourite exhibits: Nightzone in Indonesian Jungle and Brown Hyena exhibit.
Favourite animals: Ratel, Brown Hyena, Tayra and Clouded Leopard.
I am very happy I can see Chinese ferret-badgers, Batagur turtle and Gharials in Prague Zoo.
