(warning: fantasy zoo thread). Imagine for a second you are Anna Rider-Richardson, what would you do if you had control of manor house wildlife park? Now this is far more interesting than the average fantasy thread as this zoo has yet to be developed and is a smaller (money limited) place.

So what would you do if you bought Manor house wildlife park?..I'll be posting mine later :)

Okay here's is the promised plans: (bearing in mind haven't been and I dont know the layout. This is entirely based on collection, what I've seen from pictures and from watching the series on tv)

I'm trying to keep this a realistic as possible:
- obviously the siamang is removed form its cell onto the proposed island with a mate, however the ring tails do not inhabit the other island (instead the lemurs are added to the walkthough exhibit) sulawesi crested macaque inhabit the island (longterm these are replaced by more rarely seen social primate species such as drill or mangabey note: LONGTERM) Black swan and mandarin ducks are added to the moat found around the islands.
-More lemurs are added to the walkthrough including more ringtails and ruffed lemurs. Aviaries are built in the walkthrough housing mellers duck and madagascan teal and tortoise.
-A few more avairies are added housing species such as temnicnks tragopan, bali starling and turaco.
-Alpaca are moved and Bison replace them in their paddock.
-Rhino are introduced as planned but shares with black backed jackal. These jackal have a raised rocky area of the enclosure to get away from the rhino if need be.
- a large netted avairy takes up part of the large lawns, this is a wlakthrough enclosure for livingstones fruit bat
-An area for native wildlife is careated with various cages for Red squirrel, scottish wild cats and red billed chough.
(getting unrealistic and longterm I could see the park doing well with a group of chimpanzees.)

basically the park ticks a few conservation boxes with the bali starling, livingstones fruit bat, ducks and teals, macaques and lemurs while still retainign its current charm. :D

Ta Dah - I hope you like it

Just like Foz, I have never been to Manor Park Wildlife Park, so I don't know about the size, state of it, etc, but I have been watching with avid interest :D With the species I know they've got and a personal fantasy of taking on the unwanted Thomas St. Cricket (TSC) stock:

I'd divide the large (?) bison paddock in half (or two third rhino, one third bison, whichever works best) in order to keep both rhino and bison, although I would thin the latter out as ARR said there were a few too many bulls.

I'd move Steve the siamang out onto the island and bring that female in from Ireland they have waiting.

I'd also return the lemurs to the walk-thru and either get an extra red ruff female or move the second male out (would stop them fighting).

I'd personally like to build up the zebra herd - depending on which species is present, I'd take those that Thomas St. Cricket is after re-homing. If possible (space dependant) I'd put an antelope species in their paddock (waterbuck maybe).

Again, re-homing from Cricket St. Thomas, I'd take their Oryx, waterbuck, sitatunga and axis deer. The latter two I would try to put in a paddock near the islands, since there seems to be a river/stream in that part of the park - good for delta dwelling hoofstock, methinks, if they can have access to either it or some waterlogged land.

Oryx and axis deer to have separate paddock wherever there is space (if there is not room, re-home the llamas :( ). For the latter particularly, I'd try to get a wooded or at least partially wooded paddock, might do a "deer encounter" thing (or, again space dependant, use TSC's unwanted fallow deer for that. I don't know if either are suitable for such a thing).

Doesn’t the park already have Przewalski horses? If not/if so, take on the ex TSC herd for breeding purposes (if they're breedable) :D

Might rescue the Bactrian camels as well, maybe some of the emus (which appear to have a large paddock next door to the bison, so they need to be moved elsewhere. are emu friendly enough for "an emu experience"?).

I believe Manor Park has a walled garden? If so, I'd make use of it for any small bird aviaries (kookaburras maybe?) and marmosets (didn't someone say they had some?) I think the old meerkat enclosure is here - if suitable, move the porcupines (they save they have some on the website) here, or make it into a home for the Spur-Thighed tortoises. Please keep in mind that I've never seen either of their present enclosures, so I don't know if they are fine where they are or not (but they probably are :) ) !

Re-home the TSC tapir with the Manor Park one if possible (not sure of the species of either) and again, if possible, breed them (otherwise just provide a comfy retirement).

Move the Reeves Munjac out (not too much of a loss with the other, more exotic hoofstock).

I'd also ideally love to take on the Amur leopards, cheetah and hunting dogs that TSC is wanting to get rid of, but don't know if A) the park has the room and B) the big cats seem a tad more specialised to layman me :)

And now I'll shut up :o

I have never visi Manor House so im doing this having seen the Tv Programme and the pictures in the Gallery.
I am trying to find species i think would go well in the surroundings and would suit the Park however a tad of favouritism is involved!
The first thing i would do is to make the Flamingo River Valley Enclosure into a Cat complex. The main section would be for Jaguars with a high netted enclosure and allowing them total access to the river and all the vegitation. The Jaguar enclosure will consist of one large enclosure in the main bit of the pictures shown and then a smaller enclosure for seperation for the male when the female has cubs or any other reason. The other side of the enclosure, Smaller enclosure's for Fishing Cat,Ocelot and Margay these enclosures will be slightly smaller in all aspects then the Jaguar enclosure and the enclosure will be 4/6 foot away from the visitor barrier to allow these secret species more privacy.
I would then have Steve the Siamang Gibbon in his Island Complex with access to the woodland around outside the Area and on the other island i will have another Gibbon Species again with Access to the outside Woodland Area - This will be part of the Great New Natural Complex for the Primates incorporating the great surroundings and Park Land Manor House has. Along the outside of this Woodland and into the Grassland Area an enclosure for Anoa will be built being a not so popular species for this small park.A smaller enclosure near by will be home to Collared Peccary.
The Outside Paddocks will have Bison in one - As they make great use of the Parkland. And in the other Paddock it will be home to the Camels and a new group of Waterbuck again found in only a few British collections.
Smaller Netted Style Enclosures around the Park will be home to Red Fox,Eurasian Otter,Coati,Racoon along with Bintourong to make up the Smaller Mammal collection.
I am not one who knows much about birds but i would have species such as Cranes and Owls as i think they would fit the Park well.
Perhaps a high netted Amur Leopard enclosure could be built among the woodland with alot of Rocks within the Enclosure which would be coming from Cricket St Thomas.

And thats it! Tried to keep it as realistic as i could along with the animals i think would go well with the Parks Surroundings and the Area its in,
As to get the animals from quite alot of these species could be found from Cricket St Thomas as they are downsizing there collection.
Regards.

I'd move Steve the siamang out onto the island and bring that female in from Ireland they have waiting.

According to Fota Wildlife Park's Twitter page, Lisa the siamang left for Manor House early in September

Just saw the latest episode which hinted at such :D Good to know that at least one project has been completed.

Also, another wild idea I had -as the manor house itself seems quite big and much of it doesn't seem to be used, it might make for a nice, unique B&B. I'd certainly pay to stay overnight in a zoo and be woken up by a siamang dawn chorus :)
