What’s your favourite zoo

Funny enough I have only been to 10 facilities in my life so far, 7 zoos and 3 aquariums. My favorite zoo so far has to be the Columbus Zoo, which is home to some of the greatest animal enclosures I have ever seen. The Heart of Africa is spectacular, it defiantly makes you feel like your on the savanna. The Asia Quest is also pretty good, very nicely themed and has some great enclosures. My favorite aquarium has to be the Florida Aquarium, it is very nicely done. It also has Lemurs.

That's a tough call! I would have to go with Omaha or Columbus. Both have a lot of species that I love (including my favorite, cheetahs), have great exhibits, and are constantly trying to improve. There's some smaller zoos I love, as well, like Bergen County and Virginia Living Museum, but size keeps them from being my favorite.

No it doesn't.

For overall enjoyable experience, Lisbon Zoo with it's cable car and large collection of traditional ABC animals with some unique ones aswell.

For memories and nostalgia it's Blackpool Zoo all the way. I've spent many happy hours in there and have enjoyed seeing it modernise in recent years.

For look and aesthetic, I'm going for Bioparc Fuengirola. Brilliant collection of African and Asian animals with jawdropping scenery and atmosphere.

My favourite zoo isn't a big zoo, It probably won't be in most members top 10,it's Exmoor zoo for me. I just love this place for it's location /scenery and amazing animals ,if it came up for sale I would buy it ....
Only joking!!

I agree with most of your post, but disagree here, as I gather that most members who have visited Exmoor think very highly of it, and many, including myself, would have it in their top tens.

Zoo Zuerich is so exceedingly good, enjoyable and fascinating in every area that it has to be number one - I don't think I have ever enjoyed a zoo visit so much, nor longed so much to return. But Whipsnade Zoo deserves a very honourable mention for being the zoo that is closest to my heart - so many childhood memories, and even though I am so familiar with the place, there still seems to be some new secret to discovery on every visit.

Do you know, I would have been disappointed if it hadn't been

Brookfield Zoo, less because of the current state of the facility but because of what a crucial role it played in me learning more about zoo history and conservation. I've become much more willing to admit its shortcomings, but only because it gave me such a strong foundation to learn from. No matter how many amazing facilities I visit as an adult, none of them can match the level of inspiration Brookfield gave me as a child and teenager.

Pairi Daiza. Yes it is in a rural area but is surprisingly accessible, being a short walk from the train station and a day trip from Brussels. The exhibits are done really well and the zoo feels like it has everything. Went there and saw many species I hadn't seen before. So big that one might need multiple days to do the whole thing.

I have been to 34 zoos and aquariums at this point and Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo remains my number one pick.

I was very impressed by what Omaha had to offer and it has left a lasting impression on me. This facility really ignited my interest in zoos and my drive to visit more of them (North Carolina was the spark, Omaha was the flame). I was especially impressed by its array of indoor exhibits (such a focus on indoor exhibits is rare in the USA) and its reptile collection. Kingdoms of the Night in particular remains one of my all-time favorite exhibits.

Possibly the best zoo I have been to was the latest new one in August this year - Zooparc de Beauval!
I would place it alongside both Berlin zoos and easily above Cologne
