Where are the great endemic zoos of the world?

It is a pity there are not more animal collections in Latin america focusing exclusively on local animals, because when carried out correctly these zoos can obtain great results.

I agree that native zoos can achieve a lot of good, but there is actually a significant number of zoos in Latin America with exclusively native collections. The line between traditional zoo and rescue centre becomes a bit blurred, and many zoos tend to have just one or two exceptions to the rule (e.g. Quito Zoo - African lion is the only non-native species).

I think the Himalayan Wildlife Zoo (Kufri Zoo) in India has also yet to be mentioned, despite holding an account on here and being home to what may still be the only captive Western tragopans on public display.

Chlidonias got it right again. Mexico ´s native felines are jaguar, puma, bobcat, ocelot, margay and jaguarundi. In my country only zoomat has them all on exhibit and breeds them too. The 3 zoos in Mexico city together also have all the feline species but at different zoos. At zoomat they are all in a feline section with large cages for every species.

I did not see Alpenzoo Innsbruck yet, that displays only species living in the Alps and some species that became extinct there.
