looking for a "new" zoo to go this year, preferably about 2-2.5 hours drive from Gloucester, looking for recommendations

I have been to the following

bristol zoo
wild place
cotswold wildlife park
chester zoo
dudley zoo
twycross zoo
marwell wildlife park
welsh mountain zoo
noahs ark zoo
Paignton zoo

not looking for farm parks or aquariums

if anyone can recommend something that would be great

thanks
Lisa

Birdland, Crocodiles of the World!

The obvious collection which is omitted from your above list would be Exmoor Zoo, which according to Google Maps is 2hr15 from Gloucester. It appears that Hamerton Zoo is a similar travel time from your location, so that would be worth considering too.

A bit further West is Newquay, with a serious bird collection (including such goodies as African Black Duck, Grey-sided Comb Duck, Sumatran Laughingthrush and Javan Gree Magpie) one of two Black Wildebeest groups in the UK, a galaxy of rare herps, Owstons Civets (and a long history of breeding them), Grey Slender Loris and the only Hoffmann's Sloths in the UK. Also plenty of ABCs. Oh, and IMHO the prettiest Short-clawed Otter enclosure in the country.

I'd second both Hamerton and Exmoor. I am sure someone on here made a Google Maps thing which marked on lots of animal collections... though I can't remember who it was or where it is. Perhaps someone has a better memory than me (which admittedly is not difficult).

Apart from Hamerton and Exmoor , I would suggest the 'best' zoo you haven’t been to is Whipsnade, which is well within range and could possibly be done in the same day as Hamerton in summer opening hours

Living Coasts & Longleat?

Birdland park and gardens then on to Cotswold Falconry centre 2 great places to visit in a day especially if you love avian collections

I recommend Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, that place is a very good day out for the family. There is a decent sized zoo, large farm barn, vintage indoor funfair and much more to see and do.
