So, as previousley pointed out, shedd, georgia and monterybay, so if i could only visit one, which one should i go to?

Heres what I'm into

Marine mammals (esp dolphins and seals)

Large fish/Sharks

Large, well stocked, multipul species on exhibit

but i generally like them all

So which One?

Shedd, Georgia and Monterey Bay are generally considered the top 3 aquariums in all of North America, but I've heard great things from fellow ZooChatters about Tennesse and Baltimore as well. Anyway, if you are into marine mammals then Monterey Bay is out because all of the whales, seals, sea lions and dolphins are found directly outside in the open ocean and not in tanks. That leaves Shedd and Georgia, and I think that Shedd is the all-around # 1 aquarium I've ever seen...but the best single exhibit is surely the Ocean Voyager (whale sharks, etc) at the Georgia Aquarium. It all depends on where you will be in terms of geography, as the United States is enormous!

The Ocean Voyager at teh Georgia Aquarium ist a good exhibit, the besta t this aquarium, but all the rest is nothing special, youc an see the sam ein every other aquarium, and whats strange, teh georgia Aquariums has jsut a few tanks and not that count of species, which it could have.

The biggets part of the Sheed Aquarium are outdated, small and very old tanks, but Amazon Rising ,Wild Reef and theOceanarium are really goode xhibits. The collection is much better than the Georgia Aquarium.

I've ssen now more than 20 public Aquariums in the USA, probably the best, my Favourite, is the Baltimore Aquarium, espeically the Australia Exhibit, and teh rain Forest are phanatstic. The Aquarium has a wodnerful colelction, I've spend more than 9 hours at this place.....

At the West coast, i like the Aquarium of the Pacific, even better than Georgia, altough teh ydon't have an"Ocean Voyager". Don't missunderstand me, the Georgia Aquarium is great, but theer are much better Aquariums in teh States. Boston and Tennessee are also recommended aquariums.

What about Monterey, still my favorite (though I've not seen Georgia)?

@Cat-Man: at Monterey Bay I saw one wild sea-lion and on both of my visits (2006 + 2008) I saw at least ten harbour seals directly outside the walls of the aquarium. There's nothing more thrilling than seeing marine mammals in the wild, and there are a few photos of the pinnipeds in the ZooChat gallery.

You forgot to mention that you can almost always see many enchanting sea otters from the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
