I am planing on going to one of these three zoos. This summer but am trying to decide. Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo, Akron Zoo, Columbus Zoo, and Fortwayne Children Zoo, African Wildlife Safari, John Ball Zoo, and Wilds. I would like your opinion on which one I should go to I am mostly in interested in size of collection whether or not their exhibits are good, and amount of babies. Thanks!

From what I've seen in the past, Cleveland's mammal collection is impressive, particularly with primates. Columbus may also be one to visit, there's a review of it on this forum which gives a general impression of what animals they have.

I haven't been to any of those zoos myself, but from what I've read in the past those would be ones I'd definitely want to see.

Columbus is easily one of the best zoos in all of North America, and is on many people's top 5 or top 10 lists in the United States. The zoo takes most of the day to see, has excellent exhibits and a huge collection. In second place in Ohio there is Cincinnati, which has an unbelievably exotic animal collection, a number of top-notch exhibits, but also a number of outdated enclosures in comparison to Columbus. Fort Wayne and Cleveland have some solid areas but are not as highly regarded as the big guns in Columbus and Cincinnati. Buy the book "America's Best Zoos", which has extensive write-ups on the best 60 zoos in the U.S., as well as paragraphs on 37 smaller zoos. It contains a wealth of information for all zoo fans.
