I read somewhere that the NBC American coverage cut out the tribute to the victims of the London bombing, and they didn't know who Tim Berners-Lee was. And this, folks, is why I incessantly poke fun at the Americans on the forum.

Belatedly, I loved the opening ceremony - especially the reaction of the Tory MP who described it as "left-wing, multi-cultural crap". Excellent!

Went to my first event yesterday - weight-lifting - and it was tremendous. Very well organised, great sport, great atmosphere.

Now, if only we could get rid of the rubbish "zoolympics" things at every zoo, we'd be okay (honourable exception: Bristol, who were the first to do it, many years ago)....
