Zoo Olomouc has just sent 2.1 gemsbok to a place called Wildlife and Eco-Park on Cebu island in Philippines.

Never heard of such place but maybe it was re-named and already esists on ZC under slightly different name (in that case admins might merge it).

THE GEMSBOKS DEPARTED FOR THE PHILIPPINES

According to international records, Olomouc Zoo is the largest breeder of South African gemsbok in Europe. In the past, the founding members of the Olomouc herd were animals coming directly from their natural habitat in Namibia. Since 1973, 343 births have taken place here. At the end of the (summer) season, the group consisted of 28 individuals, of which 11 were young, bred in 2024 in a sex ratio of 2.9. A location was found for all of them. 2 males and a female were the first to fly to the Wildlife and Eco-Park on the island of Cebu in the Philippines. The transport, the preparation of which was complex, started on the road to the airport in Brussels and continued by plane to the destination with one stopover at the airport in Doha, Qatar. "Since we knew the journey would be long, the gemsboks got a big snack in the form of hay and carrots in the box. Hay and water were also replenished by the airport staff during the layover. Today we already know that after a 3-day journey from loading at the Olomouc Zoo to unloading at the Wildlife and Eco-Park in the Philippines, the gemsboks were safely released into their new stable, where they will be introduced to the local public after the necessary quarantine," says zoologist Ing. Eliška Veselá.

ML Wildlife and Eco-Park Inc is the company name for the Cebu Safari & Adventure Park, which opened in 2018.

A few people online claim Cebu Safari & Adventure Park is the largest zoo in the Philippines.

Their antelope collection is the most diverse in the country. Besides a sizeable herd of plains zebras (likely both Burchell's and Grant's), residents in their African savanna include:

- Common eland (Taurotragus oryx);
- Greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros);
- Impala (Aepyceros melampus);
- Thomson's gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii);
- Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus);
- White-faced damalisk (Damaliscus pygargus);
- Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus);
- Gemsbok (Oryx gazella).

There is also what seems to be a hybrid between a greater kudu and an eland. From a few pictures on the internet, it is safe to assume said "kuland" is an offspring of the male which lived at the park sometime in the past.

I assume their white-faced damalisks (thanks @TeaLovingDave, I will be using this name from now on) are related to the ones at Baluarte, in Vigan.

Fortunately, they seem to have done an awful lot of progress since 2016.
