Does anyone know more about wildlife laws in Mexico.
During my tour through Yucatan I saw several thing from which I thought they may well be illigal for example :
a Yucatan brocket deer kept on a ranch I came along
a parrot and a parakeet kept in very small cages ( see photos in the Mexico -other-Gallery )
photographer walking along the beach with a Toucan to take photos with the bird and tourists.
I would realy like to know if all these things are legal or illigal ?

estimado vogel,
yes i am the same carlos, but i had to change my log to get back here on zoochat because of email problems.
all the cases you mention are illegal by mexican wildllife laws. the problem is enforcing the laws.PROFEPA -PROCUDARIA FEDERAL DE PROTECCION AMBIENTAL is in charge of enforcing enviromental laws. I suppose that they are understaffed in southern mexico and in yucatan which is a large state - as you know now. You can report wildlife trafficing to profepa by phone. ME and my students have done so various times with good results - in Mexico city, of course. IF you return to mexico i will send you the profepa phone number to report violations to wildlife protection laws.
