Beside the fact, that American white pelicans not really fit geografically to Wilds of Africa I wonder, why they are transfered to this place? (If I remember correctly, they were once living in a flamingo exhibit in front of the building which is now Bug U!)

@Gerenuk, the species list has fluctuated some in the past few years. The Grevy's Zebra have been in the woodlands a little more than a year or so now. The eland that is in the bush is the last original hoofstock animal on display at a grand old age of at least 23 or 24. The gemsbok and waterbuck were both brought in about 2002 or 2003.
@zoomaniac From my understanding the lack of African pelicans has to do with disease regulations restricting their importation. The zoo however wanted to keep pelicans in the exhibit, and they have turned out to be the most popular animal in that exhibit. They may have been in the ZN flamingo pond which currently does have brown pelicans.
