I am going up north next summer and sadly i only have time to see one of these collections, which one do you guys think i should visit?

PS: i will also be visiting alton towers, so there will be some photos of the aquarium.

With you been a Marwell regular would say Twycross would be the one to do as there are more species on show at Twycross that you will not have seen at Marwell.

Two entirely different collections. WMSP is mostly hoofed animals and big cats in drive through enclosures. Twycross a more traditional collection & big on Primates. You could actually visit both in one day with an hour or so's driving around Birmingham between them.

If you can only visit one of them I would advise Twycross everytime, because of the greater variety of species.

zoogiraffe/pertinax - i am a big fan of primates so i think twycross would be good, but im a torn between the two as i really want to go and see the white lions at wmsp

as for visiting both in one day, i do like to take my time in zoos! at the moment im think twycross will be the best idea..

I'm not sure I'd call either up North! But I'd probably recommend Twycross. Twycross wasn't a great display, but a good species list, and worth seeing for that. A bit of a bad reason really.

You only need an hour or so to drive around West Midlands and see everything as you are in a car- provided you go at a nonPeak time. At Twycross you could spend anything from three hours to most of a day depending on your interests but its actually quite a small site.

cat-man, my family is only allowing me to go to one zoo! and i want to see the new aquarium anyway

pertinax - twycross it is then!

Twycross, is a good choice, although a very small sight. However some of the primate species they keep are worth the visit

ive heard that the exhibits arent great, which one do people think is the best exhibit/highlight i should defintely head for first?

Tiger, I would also reccommend the tropical house. In my opinion it's set out very well and is very different to the rest of the Twycross exhibits. You need to pick up a ticket at the visitor kiosk at the entrance for in order to go on a guided tour of the house though (they only allow a certain number of people in at any one time).
