A brand-new exhibit will open in May that will see a pair of cheetahs make their debut at the zoo. (I don't have any other information on the zoo's latest addition but that is certainly exciting news!) The zoo has had a lot of success in recent years with breeding cats (tigers, lions, snow leopards and ocelots) and hopefully that will continue in the future as the cheetahs are part of the SSP program.

Ray the zoos 19 year old male Malayan tapir died over the weekend. The zoo hasnt decided whether to replace him or not but they have a two year old female Ulan so they probably will try to replace him since she recently arrived.

The zoo has waited until today, International Cheetah Day, to announce that the Cheetahs are coming to the zoo. The article contains information about which two cats are coming to Woodland Park Zoo.

After reading BeardsleyZooFan's link above, it seems as the cheetahs will not be breeding. The two new cheetahs are females.

You are correct in that there will definitely not be cubs in the future, but all of the press releases have touted the zoo's participation in the SSP program. What the zoo told me in an email was that there is a shortage of holding facilities for non-breeding cheetahs (hence the facility's involvement with the SSP) and the two cats making their debut in May are from Wildlife Safari in southern Oregon.
