I don't really get the point of breeding in a bird rescue center. The way I understand it, they breed confiscated birds so they can sell the offspring to private owners to prevent the catch of wild birds? Very strange.. Stichting AAP for example prevents offspring in their confiscated animals actively and aims to stop the exotic pet industry. In my opinion trogons shouldn't be kept by non-professionals.
I strongly believe the offsprings of these species will end-up in public collections or specialist-breeding centers rather then in small random privat collections.
As someone with a small private collection of birds, I strongly resent your implication that private breeders should not have such birds. Breeding results in private collections often surpass those of collections open to the public.Although I like the breeding success an sich, I don't really get the point of breeding in a bird rescue center.
