Recently a (new?) species arrived at the zoo, namely a pair of Papuan hornbills (Rhyticeros plicatus).

Wow, really nice new enclosure for hornbills.

Yes, new aviary is very nice, but pair of hornbills isn't new species in Wrocław Zoo. Birds came in 2021 but until now they were off show. New aviaries around Bird House are also ready and soon the birds will have access to them.

On the 10th of December a Balabac chevrotain (Tragulus nigricans) was born, the sex is currently unknown. Hopefully it is a male since there are only 2 males in Europa at the moment.

Great news, the young Balabac chevrotain is a male!
This means there are currently 11 females and 3 males living in captivity in Europe.

On the 23rd of March a Southern three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus) was born.

Zoo Wroclaw announced that the process of finding the building company for the new Lion House has begin (few pictures with the concept attached). The plan is to complete the building within +/- 9 months.

Right now the only lion they have is a 16 year old Katanga Lion 0.1 - OKAVANGO. Not sure if she will stay there. Probably they will finish the Katanga Lion holding and switch to some other sub-spiece.

Additionally part of the new enclosure will be dedicated to meerkats.

Recently a Collared Mangabey (Cercocebus torquatus) was born.

On the 26th of September a male Antillean manatee (Trichechus manatus manatus) was born, sadly the mother rejected the calf so the calf is getting bottle fed.

Exactly a month after birth the mother of the newborn manatee started to feed/take care of her young. He now joined the rest of the group.
