A few updates from a last 2018 visit;
-Red Bellied Lemurs are now frequently out with the Ring Tails in Lemur Woods.
-Najuma the new young female black rhino is still very nervous, only ever sticking her head out of the house occasionally..
-A new Tortoise enclosure near the Wallabies, I don’t remember the species.
-An exciting new year to come for one of the UK’s fastest developing Wildlife Parks..

I visited YWP for the first time on Sunday.
Quite small but nicely laid out and the animals look well cared for in attractive environments.
It was a treat to see four Polar Bears, unfortunately the Brown Bear wasn't visible.
 
Anteaters enclosure is fenced off.
Sulcata Tortoise exhibit being built just down by the Bug Video lawn, round the side of Wallaby's.
The two Brown Bears that are on show are starting to come out more (except when I go down there with a camera)
A few wallaby's carrying joeys.
A lot of ground work is being done on the other side, as well as certain terrains being created by the looks.
Little pigs not so little anymore.
New walkway between Tigers and Okapi now open.

Is that a second Sulcata tortoise exhibit? There's been one by the wallaby enclosure for at least a year and there were tortoises in it still 2 weeks ago!
 
Well there was workmen in there, building a hut at the end of it and doing other stuff so if it's an old one, they were modifying it.

Thanks for posting - although they're being cagy about exact species still, some of the planned habitats (South American coast, Asian bamboo forest, and above all Ethiopian Highlands!) are pretty suggestive..!
 
Sea Lions, and Penguins would be my guess on the water areas with the viewing tunnels.

African Valley, Elephants ?

Looking at the scale compared to the rest of the zoo (on the first map in the design guide) it looks unlikely that elephants are involved. Looking at the plans I would be amazed if the intentions when designing them didn't include Humboldt Penguin, Red Panda, Gelada, and probably Brazilian Tapir. Those species would also fit well into the enclosures shown as Phase 1. My feeling is the African section might be mostly primates (dare I suggest apes?!).
 
The clues seem to suggest

Golf - gorilla
Brava - baboon (gelada)
Havana - Hippo (pygmy)
Spot - spotted hyena or cheetah?
Bongo - bongo
Tango - tapir
Papa - penguin
Sierra - sea lion
Budda - bush dog
Missy - monkey or maned wolf
Romeo - red panda
Delta - dhole
Hoofstock - hoofstock possibly gaur/ Indian rhino?

These species also seem to match the fencing types used.

Has there been any development in the woods between the lemurs and wild dogs, where a top secret arboreal species were destined?
 
The areas originally earmarked for Sun bears crocs, Komodo and over the other side fruit bats, are left clear in the five year plan for future phases.

On page 48 of this document there was something which pricked my ears...(this page is referencing the design of any buildings within the enclosures)

'There is one animal reserve which requires a larger enclosure in ‘Africa’. As this building will be more prominent it is intended to develop a higher quality architectural statement that references the narrative used within the ‘Visitor Hub’ building'
