The two oryx have moved to marwell recently

also does anyone know what’s the plans for painted dogs as I have just seen a picture of 4 toghether is there a new group ? Or have they been mixed toghether

I was there last week and there was a group of two and a group of three in two separate enclosures. I think they are looking for some new blood and will move one of the groups on.

Is there any rumours about any new animal developments in the future. Definitely not yet as i know they are struggling financially however i'm sure the gorilla plans were scrapped

I was lucky enough to speak to someone at YWP in June time, when I done an experience and they worked in fundraising/marketing and when I asked if they planned to bring in any animals in the near future, it was a categoric no. They said the priority was on completing the hotel and function rooms and they needed the co-operate areas to be getting booked near to capacity to consider any further animal developments. I asked if the plan to have Gorilla's was on hold, and they repeated that there was no plans at present for any further animal developments.

I took this as a basic, they didn't want to discuss certain things, formerly planned things, but they were very clear that there would be no further animal developments until the co-operate side was completed and running successfully.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park have announced the birth of a gelada, the first in the park's history.

This is the first offspring born to mother 'Feven'. The father of the baby, named 'Obi' arrived with his brother 'Taylor' at the park from Colchester Zoo in 2020.

In a first in Europe, the two new males were introduced to an already-established group with a dominant male (named 'Harry'). This resulted in a split in the group - the result is Harry's larger harem of ten, and a smaller harem of five belonging to the two brothers, both sharing the same enclosure. It may be that, with the successful birth, more females may switch from Harry's to the brother's group.

it's worth noting that a big part of the hotel plan was based on promoting it as an airport hotel for Doncaster Sheffield Airport and - well... that turned out to be not such a great plan....

I'm not sure anyone said anything about scaring the animals?
I was at YWP on maybe the first or second year they had a concert and would be surprised if the animals were bothered. I know that Tywcross's live events were right in the middle of the zoo and apart from the Bonobos getting an initial shock, they weren't bothered then.

I did an experience recently and the keeper mentioned one task being monitoring sound levels and animal behaviour during events to assess whether it caused any problems.
