Over the years we have all visited many collections, some more than others.
We have probably seen many changes through-out the years, with the exhibits getting bigger gardens disappearing for new exhibits.
Old buildings being removed from the collections completely, others being refurbished to bring them up to modern times.
Many small exhibits being enlarged for modern times many species disappearing from collections whether good or bad.

Now here we go,
Over the years what as been your favourite exhibit and species in any collection they don’t have to be the same (species in the exhibit) they can be completely different.

Mind as to be Dudley Zoo’s Red Panda exhibit,
It’s a great place for Red Panda’s with many tall tree’s and some clear ground at the front some climbing frames and good nesting boxes.
I also love the viewing decking at the top of the hill this gives a completely different viewing to the exhibit.

My favourite animal as to be the Yak at West midlands Safari Park a few years back

Let’s here what you have for your favourites?

My favourite exhibit has to be the snow leopard enclosure at Twycross zoo. It's large and mimics their natural habitat perfectly and is always the highlight of any trip to Twycross.

As for my favourite animal it has to be the giraffe family at Dudley zoo.

Off the top of my head and just thinking about my local zoo, Paignton, at the moment, one of my favourite exhibits was that of the West Caucasian Tur. It's an old quarry with a cliff face, a wooded area to one side and undulating grass at the foot. There were originally 1.4 and one morning we saw 3 very small animals at the top of the cliff - the females had all had kids in the night. It was always a challenge trying to spot them all on the cliff and among the trees and it was wonderful when they 'flew' over it, barely making contact. We felt it must be like watching them in the wild.

The quarry is still there, of course, but very sadly the Tur were victims of the TB outbreak. They have been replaced by the 2 Mishmi Takin who are very different animals, and for me the wow factor is now lacking.
