Today a rare ( at least for the Netherlands ! ) Harp seal was found on the coast. Because the animal was weak, it has been caught and brought to Zeehondencréche Pieterburen.

The Harp seal is doing fine. First it was kept behind the scenes but now it has recovered in such a way that it is placed on public view .

When you say "Pieterburen" in the Netherlands everybody will directly say : Oh yes, seal rehab.
The center is very famous for raising howlers which got seperated from their mothers and sick and wounded seal-rehab.
Now the center has plans to go also into Porpoise-rehab because the society doing the porpoise-rehab has stopped their cooperation with Dolfinarium Harderwijk and was looking for a new parthner where the injured and sick animals can recover.

It was more like that SADLY the dolphin park terminated the Porpoise Rehab unit that was doing a great job and actually was a showcase for why dolphin parks are relevant today and do a lot more than those pseud 'Blackfish' idiot squads for dolphin education, conservation and / or captive management and husbandry (full stop).

There are also rumours that a park in Zeeland will start with porpoise rehabilitation programs. And over the border in Belgium the Boudewijn Sea Park just got its first patient (which sadly after first emergency aid and transfer to Netherlands passed away).
