This zoo has a remarkable collection of mammals, documented in a review in the Summer 2017 issue of Zoo Grapevine & International Zoo News. There are African Elephants, Black Rhinos, Greater One-Horned Rhinos, Nile Hippos, Pygmy Hippos, two tapir species, 3 bear species, Chimpanzees, Bornean Orangutans, 3 gibbon species, loads of other primates, two species of hyena, 9 species of feline, etc. An astonishing list for a zoo that is not as well-known outside of the Bordeaux area.

Lot's of news for the future reopening may 19th :
- the new walkthrough south-american aviary not finished last year will be open with mitred conures, southern screamers, patagonian maras, military macaws, blue and yellow macaws and scarlet macaws.
- next to this aviary, new enclosures for ocelots, south american coatis and three new species : collared peccaries, red titis and capuchin monkeys (no precision on this one but I put a penny on yellow-brestead),
- next to this area another new area for two-toed sloths, white-faced sakis, tamarins, lowland pacas and white-faced capuchins (all already at the zoo),
- the small clawed otters are now with the orang-utans and their past enclosure welcome smooth-coated otters (new species),
- the howler monkeys aviary is now home for margays (new species),
- there is a new aviary for african eagle-owls (new species).

So far six new species and a lot's of new enclosures !
