Zoo Books

@snowleopard Is: America's Top 100 Zoos & Aquariums: The essential guide to America's most important zoological establishments, available to buy in the U.S.A? It definitely looks like a good book looking it up. I cant seem to buy it anywhere in the U.S. however.

You have to purchase it through IZES in the UK: America's Top 100 Zoos & Aquariums

Pardon me, but whats that supposed to mean?

Snowleopard is one of the authors.

The book is very easy to order and it can be shipped to the U.S. via the IZES website:

America's Top 100 Zoos & Aquariums

I know several Americans that ordered the book and some of the individuals received it within two weeks (although that was pre-Covid) and the publication is well worth purchasing. It is not cheap and you'll have to pay international shipping costs, but the book's quality is extremely high and all proceeds support conservation funds.

Thank you so much, I will purchase the book soon enough.

I finished reading it a few weeks ago, I can highly recommend it. A great guide for someone (me) who has yet to explore the zoos of North America!

I am working on a book series called "Zoos: A Photo Book and Guide". It will be six books covering accredited zoos in the in different regions of the United States. It is more a travel guide and photo book than a definitive guide. The first book, "Zoos of the Midwest", was released in July and covers Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. I am currently procrastinating my way through writing the second book, "Zoos of the Great Lakes", which covers Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Thanks for introducing yourself to ZooChat. Your book isn't cheap ($54 CAD for a paperback), but I usually purchase every zoo book that is released and I'm tempted to buy yours! I've visited 26 out of the 28 zoos in your book, only missing out on David Traylor Zoo and Wright Park Zoo. (There are 9 of the zoos that qualified for the book that I co-authored)

Here's the Canadian Amazon link for those that are interested:

I highly recommend David Traylor Zoo if you get the chance, it is a very nice small zoo and is accredited by AZA. Wright Park Zoo is in one of the towns I grew up in. I was amazed at the difference between my memories of the place, which were bad and how much better it is today.
