The City of Mulhouse is calling for a tender for the construction of a new area called "Horizon Afrique". This area located in the center of the zoo, on a naturel field not used yet, will see the creation of :
- an african plain with giraffes, gazelles, zebras, ostriches and cranes.
- a large building with indoor enclosures for the giraffes and dwarf mongooses together with aardvarks.
- a smaller building for the antelopes, zebras...connected to the larger one.
- a tropical building with indoor enclosures for pygmy hippos and crocodiles + a walkthrough part for galagos and birds.
- outdoor enclosures for the pygmy hippos and the dwarf mongooses/aardvarks.
- two islands for Roloway and Hamlyn's monkeys (living already at the park in the primates house),
- wet terrariums in a round room in the antelope building for : Black-and-rufous elephant shrews, Jackson's chameleons, Reed frogs, Giant african snails, Gaboon vipers, African bush vipers, African bullfrogs, Green keel-bellied lizards, Pygmy leaf chameleon, William's electric blue gecko with Ruby-eyed treefrogs.
- dry terrariums in the giraffes building for : Grey monitors, Emperor scorpions, Spiders Nephila ssp, Giant baboon spiders or Socotra Island Blue Baboon spiders, Cosmoderus femoralis (don't find the english name), Beetles Chlorocala africana, Black widows or stick insects, Naked mole- rats.

Interesting project with the inclusion of many species including insects and amphibians !

It seems that the aardvarks are democratizing in France ... what will be the next park ? :)

In the original plans they were talking about new islands for Roloway and Hamlyn monkeys but I can't find any mention of them in the newer articles. Does anyone know if they are still getting new exhibits?
