Zoo Miami Zoo Miami News 2024

I, for one, am glad that the zoo is continuing their breeding efforts; but I am curious as to what will happen to their previous offspring?
The youngest (born in July) remains at Miami, while two others were sent to IAE's private facility and the third was sent to White Oak's ranch in Texas. Those are the two facilities that have all of the remaining giant eland not at Miami or African Safari Wildlife Park.

Isn't the White Oak property in Florida?

Interesting. Besides the giant eland, what do they have there?
I don’t wish to derail the Zoo Miami news thread much further, but the ranch houses a lot of the same hoofstock housed at the Florida campus — its most notable inhabitants (other than the giant eland) are probably the growing Cape buffalo herd and the massive bachelor herd of Somali wild ass.
