1.1 Eurasian Eagle owls hatched, would be reintroduced to the wild in future

Just seen on the Rewilding Danube Delta Facebook page that Odessa Zoo has bred two Eurasian eagle owl chicks that will be reintroduced into the Ukrainian side of the Delta. Already, one eagle owl (a female named Makosha) has been reintroduced and has survived the winter. The plan is to release twenty young eagle owls into the area over the next five years.
In August and September 2021, six Eurasian eagle owls hatched at Odessa Zoo have been reintroduced to the Danube Delta in Ukraine. So far ten birds have been released, with the target of releasing twenty by 2024.

On March 26th, it was reported that the zoo opened for the first time since the Russia invasion of Ukraine began in February. The zoo is now caring for 400+ pets that were left behind by their owners. Also, it was reported that a (0.0.1) calf (species not known) was born and named Javalin.
