Agreed, however, I admire the public support of shoebill. It's their map cover, billboard signs and overall a huge campaign for a lesser recognized species.
Idk about lesser recognized species. Shoebills have been slowly turning into a “meme” in the west similar to capybaras and caracals.

Oh, don't get be wrong, shoebills have been my favorite bird ever since I saw them on a Nat Geo show back in the early 90s. I am ecstatic that they are really supporting them here.

Recently 2 juvenile manatees arrived at the David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center.

"Last Thursday, a juvenile manatee was rescued at Bear Creek. The male was suffering from cold stress and facial propeller wounds and transported our critical care center for round-the-clock care. The following day, FWC brought us an orphaned calf from Hunter Springs Park in Crystal River after observing him alone for several days without a mother.

Both manatees, named Corduroy and Kristoff, are in critical condition. They will continue to receive nutritious food, medication and other forms of treatment as needed until they are fully rehabilitated and strong enough to return to Florida waters."
