Gulf Breeze Zoo Zoo To Temporarily Close

Interesting article link, although the former county commisioner who was quoted obviously doesn't know much about the zoo world, because he says he doesn't know hardly any zoo that is not government funded. Oh really? In my state of Arizona there are 8 zoological parks and only one (the one I volunteer at) receives government funds.

What about San Diego (both parks), The Living Desert, Fort Worth, etc, etc. Actually this might make a good topic for a new thread - a list of major U.S. zoos that are government affiliated and those that are completely private (including the recently switched-over Dallas Zoo).
 
@ Arizona Docent, you should do a separate thread because I think there's a great disparity across the U.S. as to how zoos are funded. And, of course, we're talking about AZA zoos not roadside zoos.
