Hi all,

Have been visiting zoos over the last 70 years. Todate the number is 320 in the US and abroad. Also have visited many national parks in US and around the world. My home zoo is the Toledo Zoo, where I volunteered for five years.

My earliest zoo trip memory took place in 1940. I was five years old at the time and my parents and I were attending a family reunion at Walbridge Park which is adjacent to the Toledo Zoo. The strange thing is the only thing I remember was the little waterfall and ferns in the birdhouse. The next year I remembered most of the animals. I would not see another zoo, other than Toledo until my graduation class trip to Washington, DC in 1953. I was very impressed with the National Zoo. That was the start of my lifelong obsession with zoos.

Welcome to ZooChat. I hope you've ventured to Ft. Wayne to visit us! I've been to Toledo several times, though not in the past few years. I'm very fond of the hippo viewing area!

Phew, there are more nutters out there

Welcome to the forums, I have a further 60 years of zoogoing to do before i come close :(

Any favorite zoo / zoo animal?

My favorite zoo is Tierpark Berlin because I like hoofed animals, mainly wild cattle, sheep, goats, and goat antelopes. Favorite is the takin.

My favorite aquarium is the Georgia Aquarium. I love to watch the whale sharks.

My favorite animals have always been poisonous snakes, so the Reptile Gardens is my favorite reptile park.

My favorite bird park is the Jurong Bird Park. My favorite birds are the raptors. I currently volunteer with a raptor rehab group.
