Zoo Webcams

I have just visited the websites for Chester zoo and Edinburgh zoo to check out their webcams (mainly the pandas at Edinburgh). All three of the webcams at Chester (giraffe, penguin and flamingo) showed the exhibits with no animals visible. The Edinburgh webcams (pandas, chimps and penguins) showed no animals either. The panda cam has a great view of the exhibit but the animals were obviously inside. The chimp cam is point to to ground and the link for penguin cam just took me to the panda enclosure again.

Obviously you can't be guaranteed seeing the animals but of the 5 cams I viewed I didn't see a single animal. Must have been bad timing or was it?

Which zoos webcams do zoochatters view? Do they give a good view of the exhibit? Do you often see the animals?

I have checked the same webcams today and saw some flamingos and penguins at Chester.

Which zoo webcams are your favourites guys?

I wonder whether forum members think that it would be cool to integrate a webcam from the wild into a zoo exhibit? There are many interesting ones, e.g. from wildlife parks in South Africa which could fit well an average savanna exhibit.

Or would it be a distraction, drawing attention to the difference between a zoo and the wild?

I think as part of physically visiting the zoo experience where one may not be guaranteed to see the animals 24/7 also applies to the webcams. In my experience in watching the livestreams, I don't see action all the time but when I do, I see interesting behaviors that I haven't had the chance to see even while I was working as a zookeeper at the Zoo.
