This may well have been posted before, but what is this organisation about? Its list of accredited facilities appears to consist of a few small AZA-accredited zoos as well as a few of the larger non-accredited zoos in America (such as Metro Richmond, Southwick's and Alabama Gulf Coast).
Is this organisation merely a face-saving exercise for zoos that don't conform to AZA standards? Or are there legitimate reasons for a rival group to exist?
I do note, btw, that the Cougar Mountain Zoo (which Zoochat photos show to have terrible enclosures for big cats and parrots) is accredited by the ZAA.
