Zoos of Africa

So I was reading about how Lezipeg was helping on the building of a new ETHIOPIAN zoo. Unfortunately it seems like the plan was canceled but it got me thinking. Since many African countries are getting better at things like economy and political issues, would it be possible for people to build zoos similar to the zoos in Europe and US? I imagine it would be easier to obtain African wildlife but for foreign wildlife (Asia, South American, etc) would probably come from other zoos.

The current zoos like Pretoria national zoo are okay but they could be better. Is there any way for them to improve?

The issue is the still too-small middle classes in the vast majority of African countries. International tourists (the vast bulk of whom come to the same ten or twelve countries) are going to see animals in the wild - or at least the semi-faux 'wild' of the big national parks. Demand for quality zoos would have to built primarily on locals, and very few African cities have enough broad-based prosperity to make anything on the scale of North America or Europe viable.
 
Depending on how much you want to stretch the word Zoo - Nairobi National Park, the Wildlife Trust Elephant/Rhino orphanage, and the Safari Walk serve the same purpose.
