zoos south australia will be releasing ten -captive bred woma pythons into predator proof sanctuary in arid australia next week. the snakes, tracked by transmitters, are only the 5th species of snake to be released from zoos to the wild anywhere in the world (other species include aruba island rattlesnake and round island boa), and the program is an australia first.
the recovery project follows the restoration of the pythons key prey items-bettongs and bilby!

That's amazing- does that mean Bilbies been restored to sufficient numbers at least in that area, that they can afford losing a few as Python food?
 
thats what the report was indicating, yeh. but it was only a quick news snippet so im sure theres more to the story.
 
yeah they have been sending lotsa natives there, i believe, there were lots more bettongs at mornarto and therere not there anymore!
