A few of the best that I have seen:
- Bush (rainforest house) at Burgers’ Zoo
- Desert (desert house) at Burgers’ Zoo
- Mangrove (rainforest house) at Burgers’ Zoo
- Ocean (aquarium) at Burgers’ Zoo
- Masoala Regenwald (rainforest house) at Zoo Zurich
- Kaeng Krachan Elefantenpark (elephant house) at Zoo Zurich
- Exotarium (reptile house and aquarium) at Zoo Zurich
- Reptile House at Zoo Antwerp
- Aquarium at Zoo Antwerp
- Spirit of the Jaguar (South American house) at Chester Zoo
- Realm of the Red Ape (orangutan house) at Chester Zoo
- Birds Greenhouse at Zoo de Beauval
- Tropen Aquarium (aquarium, reptile house and rainforest house) at Tierpark Hagenbeck
Some of these are better than others, but all are excellent and absolutely worth seeing in my opinion. The Burgers’ and Zurich exhibits are some of the best in the world, and I would strongly recommend looking at photos of them if you are planning a European zoo trip. The other exhibits are a little smaller in scale, often focusing mainly on just a select few species, but all are of a very high quality.
There are no doubt many more that I haven’t seen, but I will let those who have comment regarding them.
