I'd no idea the zoo even housed these but you never know. (Never mind I remember them now)Not to open a can of worms of what we'd we'd like to see breed before the end of 2016, but i'm keeping fingers crossed for the Bermuda skinks...

I think you read a bit too much into things TLD - the only thing that quote implies is that Charlie thinks 2016 has overall been much better than 2015... that doesn't mean he thinks 2015 was a disaster.
To answer the original question - I don't think the Tuatara should be counted either - so I will go with the malayan tapir - purely from a personal preferance pov!

No Satsuma is a ChineseThree-striped Turtle which most certainly isn't a Zhous Turtle!
If Chester manages to breed Zhous Turtle down the line, this will blow the Chinese Three-Striped out of the water in terms of importance given the fact the species is quite possibly extinct in the wild!
Ohhh Boy that would be amazing I imagine it is quiet scarce in many zoo's then?
Alright so I think it is safe to say the biggest births to the community are the Tuatara, Javan Green Magpies, Satsuma the turtle and Solo the Malayan Tapir are there any last minute suggestions?
I'd say your own suggestion of the tarantulas deserves a mention too, given it is a world first.
Why thank you. Anyway I Believe this is a good time to move on as we have a general view as to what others would pick. So as many of you know this year several species went on show in the zoo. My question is what is your favourite new animal to come on show in 2016? (Please note that animals who have rejoined the collection do not qualify but animals who the zoo held for some time but only just put on show do.)
The former restriction, if viewed strictly at species level, would actually rule out several of the new arrivals on-show
for instance, the Binturong and the Prevost Squirrels, both of which have been displayed previously through different subspecies.Either way, for me the answer is easily the Northern Luzon Cloud Rat.
That it does however we will have our own debate on that later, for now I just want the new species no matter the taxa.
I have soft spots for both the cloud rats and the dwarf mudskippers.
Well I think it's time for my two cents, I think its a three way tie between the North Luzon Cloud Rat's, Aye Aye and Giant Malagasy Jumping Rat. All new species add a layer of enrichment to the zoo, smaller less understood species that will be great to see (Also unsure of this but do Silvery Gibbons qualify as a new species?)
Given they were at least visible (and signed) last December, i'd suggest not.
No, but only just about; they arrived on December 30 2015 and were first sighted by a Zoochatter that very day.
