Assuming that photo was taken from the public path, then yes that counts as any member of the public can see the animals there, even if the building itself is off-show.

Another few from Antwerp, still missing a bunch though.

25) Australian magpie, Gymnorhina tibicen*

*Behind the scenes because of construction work, but visible from the visitor path (in the aviaries where congo peafowl and great blue turaco used to be held, among others)

Had quite a few no-shows, but Rotterdam gave me my first few captive Passerines for the year.

1. Asian Fairy-bluebird (Irena puella)
2. White-throated magpie-jay (Calocitta formosa)
3. Blue-crowned laughingthrush (Dryonastes courtoisi)
4. Brazilian tanager (Ramphocelus bresilia)
5. Common bulbul (Pycnonotus barbatus)
6. Red-whiskered bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus)
7. Scissor-billed starling (Scissirostrum dubium)
8. Superb starling (Lamprotornis superbus)
9. White-rumped Shama (Copsychus malabaricus)

Did see today 118 different captive Passerines but even so the number for the challenge still is 0 because sofar not a single visit to a public collection this year :(.
The 118 different species I've seen at the Dutch national bird exibition "Vogel 2017" . More then 10.000 birds of many species - next to the passerines also parakeets and parrots, some touraco's, kingfishers, pigeons and loads of mutations and breeding-forms of canaries, budgies and other birds.
The exibition was held at Apeldoorn and I had a really nice day there between all those feathered friends !

I open my account with a visit to Zoo Negara on January 23rd:

1. Black and White Laughing Thrush, Garrulax bicolor

This was one of only two passerines labelled at the zoo. I visited KL Bird Park a year ago and wasn't really inclined to rush back. I actually don't think the passerine collection there was particularly good either, apart from a nice mixed Bulbul aviary. It's going to be a slow start to the year for me.

From a third visit to antwerp today:

26) Yellow-crowned bishop, Euplectes afer
27) Cut-throat finch, Amadina fasciata
28) Scaly-breasted munia, Lonchura punctulata
29) African silverbill, Lonchura cantans
30) Long-tailed finch, Poephila acuticauda
31) Red fody, Foudia madagascariensis

Was surprised to see I had missed 4 species (27-30) in the dark hallway on my second visit! I don't tend to stick around there that long, but I really wasn't expecting that hall to contain so many species (others kept in here are red avadavat, orange-bellied waxbill, red-browed firetail, red-throated parrotfinch, and then 2 more species I missed both times; double-barred finch and red-cheeked cordonbleu). Still missing quite a lot!

If we see a bird in a walkthrough aviary that is local, and we suspect shouldn't be in there, should we count it? It is still captive and on display, so I'm inclined to, but I want to be transparent about it.
