When is the seal supposed to be coming and what is jungle odyssey?

Coolio will likely debut by Memorial Day weekend. I expect possibly April when the weather normalizes and no more snow. He has enough to get used to after all. Jungle Odyssey ( originally Jungle Trails) will open in May behind The Islands. It will feature four exhibits: giant anteater & capybara, ocelot, fossa, and pygmy hippopotamus. It will also include a zip line. Dinosaurs will debut in the former train area Memorial Day weekend. There are likely to be several other additions/changes, but I do not have all the details yet.

thank you very much is coolio a northern or southern elephant seal? also will this mean that Philadelphia will lose out from this and Pittsburgh will become better than Philadelphia?

Northern. Plus the Conservation Solarium should open possibly in 2018 and the mountain exhibits in 2019.

Thank you They are quite ambitious.
Also this is not good for philly they will have to do something though they have people from trenton to come to them also they will also have the added misfortune of Elmwood park zoo and their cat exhibits.

Why would Philly care if Pittsburgh is improving their zoo? Pittsburgh will continue doing its thing and Philly will continue doing what it's doing.

The zoo's penguins that were born last year and named after Stanley Cup Pittsburgh Penguins were at the game at Heinz Field last night. They hung out with Iceburgh. The Penguins/Flyers game last night was an example why Pittsburgh and Philadelphia compete with each other. This is why the comparison was probably brought up.

I agree with Andrew_NPZ that they should not have an effect on the Philadelphia Zoo. They are are on opposite sides of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is actually closer to Akron and Cleveland Zoo. There is not much the Philadelphia Zoo could do to compete with new exhibits anyway. They are limited in space, that's why they created the Zoo 360 trails so animals can move about more.

I look forward to Pittsburgh Zoo's new jungle exhibit opening later this year.

I live in Ohio, but I have been spending more time in Pennsylvania. The state is not like a lot of states because of its size and shape. The state as a whole really does not belong to a certain region. Eastern Pennsylvania is Mid-Atlantic. Philadelphia competes with zoos in that region. Western Pennsylvania is Midwestern. Pittsburgh competes with zoos in that region.

SeaWorld San Diego polar bear Snowflake has arrived at the zoo for a temporary breeding loan.

Is she doing what she did in the past where she goes back to Seaworld after mating season? Or is she going to stick around for a bit? I was thinking it be more permanent this time with Kobe now in Chicago at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Brookfield has polar bears and not Lincoln Park. Nan has moved from Toledo to Brookfield. Kobe is still in Pittsburgh and will remain there according to last fall's Breeding and Relocation Plan. Snowflake will go home after the breeding season.

The Breeding and Relocation Plan did not mention Lincoln Park and their new exhibit. That is a little strange since the plan was published a couple months before it opened. If Kobe moved, this is the first I have heard of it.

Apologies again. Zoo codes are not always what you think they should be. I looked under Lincoln Park and the code is CHICAGOLP. According to the plan, Detroit's Nuka (formerly from Pittsburgh) and Columbus' Anana (who also used to live at Pittsburgh) were slated to move to Lincoln Park. Plans could change especially since Anana is now a mother.
