Racine Zoo Racine Zoo News

Recently made a trip to the zoo this week, and I have to say that the arctic foxes are awesome to see in-person!

The zoo has opened up a new exhibit in the Australian Walkabout area--it is home to a tawny frogmouth! And there is a new exhibit being prepped in the rhinoceros exhibit on the edge. It is elevated, and has glass overlooking the rhinoceros exhibit. Looks suited for a small mammal, or maybe even a tortoise.

I will be leaving for Racine in less than an hour, I have some questions.

Where are the arctic foxes in the zoo?

Has the outdoor orangutan exhibit been completed?

What's the best exhibit at Racine zoo?

What are some rarities I can see at the zoo (Tur, Andean bear, arctic foxes)?

There is no outdoor orangutan exhibit unfortunately; I've read that there were plans for one, but that was a real long time ago. Other than the ones you've mentioned, a few other neat animals include fossa, blue-eyed black lemur, emperor tamarin, tufted deer, and lesser adjutant stork. Exhibits: don't know where arctic foxes are located, and the best exhibit is its Australian area - Walkabout Creek, along with the Stork Aviary.

Enjoy!
